A Research in Collaboration with Selcuk University: Digital Transformation and Its Impact on the Automotive Spare Parts Industry in Konya, Turkey.

Abstract 

A total of 44 employees participated in this research, which was carried out to determine the relationship between digitalization, quality performance, and business performance. within the scope of supply chain management. 3 the participants were men with well educated, and between the ages of 20-30. In addition, 70.2% of the participants mostly working in sales-marketing, accounting-finance, management, and production departments. All of them are working in automotive and spare parts companies. As for the position, the participants mostly hold positions as: engineers, accountants, and managers. In addition, in terms of experience years, the research was carried out on participants who worked for an average of 5 years and above. It can be said that the companies in which the participants working, are quite diverse from the side of years of establishment and are mostly small-scale enterprises operating on an international scale. In addition, it is possible to say that these enterprises are enterprises that give value to quality control operations in general and cooperate with universities and academicians in this direction. According to the evaluations of the participants, the digitalization, quality performance, and business performance levels of the enterprises within the scope of supply chain management were found to be moderate. However, regarding digitalization, benefiting from digital technologies, training given by the human resources department, and investments in the internet of things came to the fore. Regarding quality performance, it was stated that there was a positive increase in total efficiency within the scope of supply chain management and digitalization, a significant decrease in customer complaints, and the ease of detection and traceability of errors, which were especially emphasized as quality performance gains. In terms of business performance, growth in sales, increase in market share, and return on investment as planned were the prominent results among business performance gains. When the relationships between digitalization, quality performance and business performance are examined; It has been determined that digitalization has positive and significant effects on quality performance and business performance, and quality performance has positive and significant effects on business performance (p<0.05). In addition, when the combined effect of digitalization and quality performance on business performance is examined, the positive and significant effect of digitalization on business performance continued (p<0.05), but the effect of quality performance on business performance became meaningless (p>0.05). On the other hand, the digitalization and quality performance perceptions of the participants did not differ significantly according to gender, number of employees in the enterprise, and working time in the sector (p>0.05). Perceptions of business performance, on the other hand, did not differ significantly according to the number of employees in the business and the working time in the industry (p>0.05), but showed it according to gender (p<0.05).
